Happy Fourth...

Here are a few pictures of our celebration this evening. Austin thought our little display of sparklers and bottle rockets was great! We took him to a 30 minute display last night in Beech Grove, where he asked if it was over 10 minutes into it. Still, he enjoyed the fireworks. Also, I've thrown in a picture of Austin dressed up at a wedding last weekend. He was the ring bearer in our good friend Amanda's wedding. He did a great job and even bowed his head during all of the prayers. Dressing up was really fun for him and we could hardly get him to take his dress clothes off for bed time that night! Hope everyone had a safe and happy celebration!

Trip To The Zoo...

We went to the Indianapolis Zoo this week for Community Tuesday. (Thanks for the tip Aunt Linda!) Austin had a wonderful time walking all around the zoo. It really wore him out! He got to pet a couple of goats, ride a train and a pony, and almost touch a shark. The new Ocean's exhibit allows zoo guests to pet sharks, but "you may only use two fingers" they instruct you on your way in. It was quite crowded and the sharks sort of only swam on one edge of the pool. When they swam near our side of the pool they were too far away for Austin's two fingers to reach. We had a great time. Anyone who would like to visit the zoo, keep in mind that the first Tuesday of each month is almost half off!

We're Back...

Alright, I know it's been nearly a year since I updated our blog. Sorry to all who have missed it! You may also notice that Google has taken over our blog site and will no longer allow us to update the old blog. So to all of you who want to look back you can still visit our old blog at http://thehertigs.blogspot.com.
We've had quite a busy year. We're back in Indiana, for good this time! John was released from the Marine Corps in March. We're so happy to have him back home. Although he will be in the inactive reserves until mid 2010, we hope and pray that he's not called back to active duty.
Austin recently had his third birthday! (Time flies doesn't it?) He had a wonderful birthday party with lots of friends and family at Pa's house. Austin seems to change each day. He is still potty training, but getting much better. He really enjoys Star Wars, or Spaceships, as he calls it, and can turn any ordinary object into a light saber or gun.
Thank you for your patience in my sparse postings! Check back, I'll do my best to put up new pictures often!
